We are seeking a Residential Lead Plumber with a Massachusetts Journeyman license to join our growing team. Residential Lead Plumber Job Description
As a Lead Plumber, you will be the expert in the home, responsible for diagnosing plumbing issues, explaining solutions clearly, and completing repairs and installations that meet code. You will also mentor apprentices, sharing your knowledge and helping them develop their skills.
Pay and Schedule
Hourly Pay: $40 to $70 per hour depending on experience
Additional Earnings: Commissions, spiffs, and review rewards
Schedule: Typical start time is 7:00 AM, end times vary based on calls, often around 4:00 PM
On-call: One week every 6 weeks, with additional on-call pay
Responsibilities
Diagnose plumbing problems and determine the best course of action.
Provide clear cost estimates to customers and explain repair options.
Perform residential plumbing repairs and installations in compliance with Massachusetts code and industry standards.
Install and repair plumbing fixtures and equipment, including sinks, toilets, tubs, water heaters, boilers, garbage disposals, dishwashers, and water softeners.
Assemble and install valves, fittings, and piping using hand and power tools.
Inspect plumbing systems, identify potential problems, and recommend preventative solutions.
Read and work from plans, drawings, and blueprints to determine materials and installation sequence.
Educate homeowners on maintenance practices to avoid future plumbing issues.
Document work performed, materials used, and time on the job using ServiceTitan on a tablet.
Collaborate with dispatch and team members to ensure smooth schedules and keep customers informed.
Stay up to date on plumbing codes, regulations, tools, and new techniques.
Lead by example and mentor apprentices when assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Massachusetts Journeyman Plumber license required
Minimum of 3 years of plumbing experience
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams
Strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of plumbing systems
Comfortable using a tablet or smartphone to manage jobs, notes, and orders
Willingness to work flexible hours and participate in the on-call rotation
Valid driver’s license
Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-first approach
